AFS Aviation Fuel Services GmbH had its origins in 1986 as a subsidiary of Deutsche Lufthansa AG and VEBA OEL AG – with 14 staff members and 6 aircraft refuelling vehicles.
The first aircraft refuelling unit was opened at Munich-Riem Airport. A year later an aircraft refuelling unit was launched in Hamburg.

Swissport International, the world’s largest company for ground handling and freight services, takes over the BP shares in AFS.
Opening of our intoplane operation at Berlin Tegel airport.
In July 2020 AFS opened its operation at Oslo-Gardermon airport. In October 2020, the AFS Berlin branch is transferred to the new BER Airport and the Berlin Tegel operation closed.
